Founding Partners & Contributors
We wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for these totally awesome (and kind, and generous) organizations.
Wayne State University: TechTown was created and spun out of Wayne State as an independent nonprofit entity to encourage regional economic revitalization as the university’s research and technology park. Today, many of our new start-up ideas and founders come to us from the labs at Wayne State, and all of our entrepreneurs find great value in the unique research, academic and technology assets available to them through our deep and unique partnership with Detroit’s research university.
Henry Ford Health System (HFHS): Since TechTown incorporated in 2000, the health system has been an important partner and supporter. HFHS is one of TechTown’s largest and most active residents and it continues to collaborate with TechTown to advance innovation in Southeast Michigan. Its CFO Jim Connelly has served on the TechTown board since our inception.
General Motors Co.: Once headquartered in the New Center area, General Motors donated its former Chevy Creative Services facility at 440 Burroughs Street to TechTown for conversion into a business growth center.
