Biography

A native Detroiter, Jeremy Lewis is a community economic developer possessing a unique set of cross-sector experiences driving results. He had the privilege of graduating from Gesu Catholic School and the University of Detroit Jesuit High School, both on the city’s northwest side where he grew up, before moving on to Hampton University. After completing his studies at Hampton University, he launched his career and excelled at the development and management of client relationships in advertising sales roles at CNN, WeatherBug, and the Weather Channel in Atlanta, New York, and Chicago, respectively.

He returned to Detroit in 2015 and combined a triple bottom-line orientation and focus on relationships to support the work of holistic community development within roles with the Osborn Business Association, Detroit Regional Chamber of Commerce, and Live6 Alliance. In his work he places an emphasis on the intersection of community, corporate, and government stakeholders focused on closing the invisible gap that exists while placing an emphasis on holistic human, organizational, physical, and economic (HOPE) development.

Also, since being back in Detroit, he has earned a Master of Community Development from the University of Detroit Mercy, participated in Leadership Detroit, New Detroit’s Multicultural Leadership Program, and Fifth Third Bank’s inaugural Empowering Community Leaders cohort in which he is working towards earning a Nonprofit Management and Leadership Executive Education Certificate from the Harvard Kennedy School.

Prescribing to a healthy work-life integration over work-life balance, he enjoys hanging out with his wife, young daughter, family, and friends at locally owned shops and restaurants in Detroit, where the trio live. Though he may not look like it, he is an avid jogger and cycler. You may even see him arrive at TechTown or a meeting on his bike when weather permits. As a man of faith his most significant motivation is the calling to LIVE…LOVE…and SERVE.
