Biography

Matthew Roling, CPA is the Chair of Wayne State’s Accounting Department.  Prior to joining Wayne State, Matthew served as CEO of BoostUp, a venture-backed savings app start-up that helped people reach their big purchase goals. Before joining BoostUp, Roling spent five years as director of business development at Rock Ventures. His previous work included stops as a turnaround consultant AlixPartners and a consultant at PwC.  Matt is also an entrepreneur in residence at TechTown, a business incubator based in Detroit.  Matt has advised and invested in start-ups in the education, fintech and sports and entertainment spaces.

In 2015, Matthew was named to the DBusiness “30 in their Thirties” list, and was also recognized that year as a Crain’s Detroit Business “40 under 40.” Additionally, he serves as a board member for numerous organizations, including the Detroit Economic Growth Corporation’s Economic Development Board and the Downtown Boxing Gym Youth Program.

Roling received his bachelor’s in business administration and his master’s in accounting from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
