Neighborhood Workshop Series: Protecting Your Business Assets

November 21, 2019 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

Are your customers coming into a clean, safe, secure and welcoming environment to shop? Many business owners don’t know that they are legally liable for poorly lit parking lots and entrances. Learn cost-effective and common-sense security measures designed to protect your customers, employees and merchandise from harm. Crime prevention through environmental design (CPTED), is an international standard that helps to increase public safety and public confidence in securing community spaces. CPTED strategies and tools will be discussed in this important workshop.

Meet the Facilitator: As the Clean and Safe Director in the East Jefferson corridor, Krystal Fields leads the district’s efforts to grow corporate involvement in efforts to enhance cleanliness and public safety along East Jefferson and in the adjoining residential neighborhoods. She administers the groundbreaking Police Secondary Employment Program, deploying off duty police officers in neighborhoods needing additional enforcement and support. Fields’ career is rooted in public service, as she has served in various capacities in state and municipal government, providing communications, public relations and general media consulting for three of Detroit’s mayors and other government officials. She is a former member of the Wayne County Corrections Community Advisory Board.
