Inaugural Marlowe Stoudamire Small Business Champion Salute Award | Pamela Lewis,  Detroit’s Innovative DNA is Everywhere

The inaugural Marlowe Stoudamire Small Business Champion Award is being given to the New Economy Initiative’s director, Pamela Lewis. Under her leadership, NEI marshalled resources to help thousands of businesses with rent relief, loan relief and grants in 2020. The consummate small business champion, this award isn’t just for Pamela, it’s shared among all of Detroit’s innovators and dreamers.

Salute Award | Detroit Maid, TechTown Raised 

Prepare to be inspired by Detroiter Danielle Smith Parker, who is transforming Detroit Maid from a traditional cleaning service into a tech company with the support of TechTown. This superwoman has pivoted and grown her business in the midst of both personal challenges and national turmoil.

Salute Award | Mature Means Positivity, Style & Attractive Character 

Watch how Mature, founded by brothers Darryl and DeKoven Humes went from pop-up to permanent with the support of TechTown. Their vision includes Suited for the Future, an initiative that provides mentoring (and suits!) to outstanding Detroit graduates. Suited for the Future launched a year early in 2020.

Radical Honesty | Ned Staebler | President and CEO, TechTown Detroit and Vice President for Economic Development at Wayne State University | Capitalism MUST work for all Americans! 

Ned Staebler will challenge us to join the effort to rebuild our economy by lifting up, supporting and championing the talents of small business owners and entrepreneurs. Spotlight | Detroit Means Business | From Crisis Response to Collaborative Future

Learn how more than 60 organizations rallied to consolidate and deploy resources in response to COVID-19 via www.detroitmeansbusiness.org and how they plan to continue and expand the coalition’s impact.
