TechTown highlights Southwest Detroit entrepreneur, Laly Piña, to celebrate Women’s History Month
As we celebrate Women’s History Month, we want to highlight a female entrepreneur in the Southwest Detroit community, Laly Piña, who has organized an Expo Quinceañera for several years.
Quinceañeras are widely celebrated among Latinos; they mark an important milestone in a girl’s life. The celebration is a combination of a birthday party and a girl coming of age. A quinceñera is a community and family celebration full of traditions. The event focuses on a young girl being symbolically escorted into womanhood by her friends, family, godparents and others who attend the gathering to witness her transition.
Quince Primaveras Expo Quinceañera Event
The young girl that’s turning 15 years old, demonstrates her entry into womanhood by wearing makeup, dressing in low heels, and has the choice of being escorted by a date.
Laly Piña, owner of Quince Primaveras, did not celebrate her transition into adulthood when she turned 15, however, she wanted to take the opportunity to help others achieve their dream look. Now she owns a store with the largest in-store selection in Southwest Detroit with garments for quinceañeras/Sweet 16’s, proms, weddings and more.
Laly also opened the door for others to showcase their talents, skills and entrepreneurial ventures. Since 2012, she has organized several Expo Quinceañeras. This year the event will take place on Sunday, March 27 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
During the expo there will be all types of vendors, including photographers, catering, cake shops, makeup artists, DJs and choreographers.
But there’s more! The most popular quinceañera dresses will be featured on a runway, along with a showcase of other types of dresses and accessories, such as centerpieces, invitations and other items. However, the focus remains on the beautiful luxurious dresses.
Expo Quinceañera has been a large and successful event for many years. Although many of Quince Primavera’s clients live out of state, they travel from tri-county areas to join the popular showcase. The selection is very extensive and it satisfies any budget.
Don’t miss out on the Expo Quinceañera on Sunday, March 27 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Lincoln Manor Banket Hall located at 25160 W. Outer Drive, Lincoln Park, MI 48146
