We sat down with Lesa Walker, one of the collaborators of our Limited Edition Store, to learn more about her custom creation. Purchase your own TechTown Signature Chocolate and Snack Basket while supplies last, and view other custom collaborations with clients and alumni at The Limited Edition Store.
Q: How did you come to participate in the Limited Edition Store?
A: I enrolled in TechTown’s Retail Boot Camp (RBC) for Sweet Thoughts LLC because I had heard so many great things from prior graduates about the program and how it helped them with their business. As a 2020 RBC graduate, I have learned how to navigate and pivot my business in the midst of a pandemic. I’ve learned different business strategies to help me become one step closer to opening my storefront in the fall of 2021.
I’ve also been awarded access to so many amazing opportunities like the
Limited Edition Store that help with the continued growth of my business. Thank you RBC team — it issuch an awesome program!
Q: Where did you learn to make these beautiful (not to mention insanely tasty) chocolates?
A: The last two weeks in the pastry and baking class at Schoolcraft College we made glossy chocolate, and I fell in love with the beautiful artistry. I was amazed that I was able to turn chocolate into gorgeous edible art. I taste everything I make, and after a while I ended up with some health issues, so I took a break from chocolates and started recreating the crunchy caramel chip I started back in culinary school. I turned it into a nutritional chip, and that’s basically how the D’lishus chips were made. Put together they
make the perfect gift basket.
Q: Why were you so excited to participate in the TechTown Limited Edition Store?
A: I believe it is so important to give back. Giving, helping and doing for others makes me feel good. I
love designing for a great cause because I truly believe that the good you do for others will make its way
back to you in some shape, form or way. It is always better to give.
Q: How did you develop and create the custom TechTown chocolate?
A: I worked with Michelle DiMercurio, and she gave me TechTown’s branding colors, and I matched them as close as possible to turn their branding colors into edible chocolate art. We decided to go with
the Sea Salt Caramel flavor because it is my most popular flavor.
