(Press Release) – March 15, 2016 – Got an idea for a health app or medical device? Want to join 250 creative American and Canadian professionals from the health and IT sectors in a weekend of inspiring and innovative cross-border collaboration?
WEtech Alliance, TechTown Detroit and the EPICentre are accepting registration for the 2nd annual Hacking Health Windsor Detroit, which takes place in the Anthony P. Toldo Health Education Centre at the University of Windsor, May 13-15, 2016.
Hacking Health is open to a range of professions and sectors including doctors, nurses, hospital administrators and CEOs, computer programmers, graphic designers, technology companies, students and investors. Participants will form teams to conceptualize, design and build mobile apps and IT solutions for the health care sector.
Last year more than 35 ideas were pitched and over $30,000 in prizes was awarded.
“It is energizing to be around so many creative and collaborative professionals,” says Yvonne Pilon, President and CEO of WEtech Alliance. “This year we expect to see wearable technology make a splash in addition to amazing mobile apps.”
Last year’s inaugural Hacking Health was held at TechTown and brought together over 250 participants who pitched more than 20 groundbreaking ideas.
“We are building a cross-border community of health care innovation that is truly international and interdisciplinary,” says Paul Riser, Director of Technology Based Entrepreneurship at TechTown Detroit. “One of the most exciting aspects of Hacking Health is seeing entrepreneurs, practitioners, administration, academics and students from across the Windsor-Detroit region collaborating on solutions that hold real promise for the future of healthcare.”
The University of Windsor is excited to serve as this year’s host.
