Marlo Rencher, the first Managing Director of TechTown, is returning with an important task ahead of her: to establish dedicated resources and more intentional strategies to increase engagement of women and minority tech entrepreneurs at TechTown, and throughout the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Detroit. With over 20 years of experience in entrepreneurship and marketing, Rencher has served as vice president for innovation, entrepreneurship and diversity at Cleary University and created their Founders Farm student incubator.
At TechTown, Rencher will not only implement tactics and strategies that ensure TechTown’s culture and programs serve more diverse entrepreneurs, but will also work strategic partners to assess diversity and inclusion gaps in Detroit’s tech community, and offer group and one-on-one community-connecting activities that amplify an inviting, open-door policy to diversify participation in Detroit’s tech sector.
Marlo comes from a family of educators, as both of her parents are retired teachers. She also has a brother who teaches in Atlanta. Lastly, her husband, Dr. Charles Rencher, is the assistant principal at Chandler Park Academy Middle School.
When she’s not planning world domination with her two brilliant daughters, she enjoys playing racquetball, running and card games. She is also a proud 25-year member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. She’s an avid reader and even more avid audiobook listener.
My all well wishes and good luck to Marlo Rencher. I hope she will be turned out as a true mentor for TechTownDetroit.
Thanks
