FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Brix Wine & Charcuterie Boutique grand opening celebration Aug. 17-19
West Village wine shop will feature full weekend of events

Brix Wine & Charcuterie Boutique, an upscale wine bar, celebrates its grand opening in Detroit’s West Village with a full weekend of events August 17-19. Brix is located at 7968 Kercheval Ave. and offers a wide selection of wine and charcuterie. Housed in a historical bank building, the 1,100-square-foot restaurant is an intimate space including a private lounge area inside the former bank vault. Brix will also offer retail in the near future.

While working in the marketing industry in New York, co-owner Mikiah Westbrooks knew she ultimately wanted to open a wine bar in her hometown. She received support from various Detroit organizations, including TechTown Detroit’s SWOT City program, a business support program for small businesses in Detroit neighborhoods. SWOT City has supported more than 40 new and existing businesses in the East Jefferson Corridor since 2014, including Rose’s Fine Foods, Sister Pie, Live Cycle Delight, Detroit Body Garage, Detroit Denim and Red Bag Boutique. Motor City Match awarded Brix $32,000 in April 2016, and Westbrooks has also received support from Rebrand Cities and the Michigan Women’s Foundation.

“I am so grateful to Motor City Match, TechTown Detroit, Rebrand Cities and the Michigan Women’s Foundation. Their continued support and commitment to small businesses in Detroit is part of the reason Brix is a reality,” says Westbrooks.
