Detroit native Elle Simone comes home to discuss kitchen culture
TechTown panel will feature America’s Test Kitchen personality, local female chefs

SheChef, Inc. founder and America’s Test Kitchen personality Elle Simone will moderate a panel of women chefs at She de Cuisine: Women Chefs Creating Positive Kitchen Culture on August 30 from 6-8pm at TechTown, 440 Burroughs, Detroit.

Simone entered the culinary world in 2003, quickly becoming a highly sought after freelance food stylist and culinary producer. She has contributed her unique styling abilities to the Food Network, Food Network Magazine, The Cooking Channel, The Katie Couric Show, CBS Corporation, ABC’s The Chew and Bravo’s Chef Roble and Co.

As the creator of SheChef Inc., a professional networking organization for women chefs of color, Simone shares her passion by mentoring, teaching resource building, business consultation/development and most importantly, advocacy. Through SheChef Productions, she brings a holistic approach to culinary and media and its multitude of avenues such as “#HerFoodStory”, a compilation of biographical accounts of women chefs and their paths to food.

She de Cuisine will highlight the inequalities women chefs face in a male-dominated industry and how they are working to create a positive kitchen culture for women. Joining Simone on a panel will be April Anderson of Good Cakes and Bakes, Kate Williams of Lady of the House and Judi Hernandez from El Caribeno Restaurant.

Tickets range from $5-$15 and proceeds will be donated to Detroit Food Academy. Tickets are available at: https://womenchefs.eventbrite.com
