Why I love my job
One of the many reasons I LOVE my job as a member of the Small Business Services team at TechTown is that I am lucky enough to work with hundreds (yes, literally hundreds) of brilliant, hard-working, resourceful entrepreneurs in Detroit. Our clients inspire and amaze me every single day. And now we have a way to connect you with them, too!
Why we should support small businesses
At TechTown, we believe that small businesses create vibrant neighborhoods. Shopping with local small businesses has a significant impact by creating jobs, keeping dollars in local communities, strengthening neighborhoods and lessening your carbon footprint.
Where to shop in Detroit
Everyone knows that TechTown knows small businesses in Detroit. Our team gets a lot of questions about where to shop, particularly during the holiday season. Questions like:
“Where can I get this specific thing?” or “Where should I go when I’m in Corktown?” or “Do you know someone who does (fill in the blank)?”. The staff members at TechTown are proud to be a part of the journey for of all of our alumni businesses, and we are always happy to give out recommendations. But we wanted to find a way to highlight all these businesses for you in one spot.
The solution
We quickly realized that the simplest solution was a website that lets you find local businesses for all your needs and connects you directly to them. The website needed to be easy to search by industry, location, online shopping, and so on.
