Hispanic/Latinx Heritage Month takes place Sept. 15 through Oct. 15 every year and is a month-long celebration of the culture, history and contributions of Hispanic and Latinx people. Southwest Detroit, also known as Mexicantown, is a vibrant community filled with diverse Latinx-owned businesses, many of whom are TechTown clients and alumni. TechTown recognizes the significant contributions Latinx/Hispanic business owners make to the entrepreneurial economy in the U.S. and Detroit, and we’re proud to work with these entrepreneurs as they build thriving businesses and strengthen our neighborhoods.

The owner, Valeria, is a second-generation immigrant and named Taqueria Lupitas after her mother, Lupita. The taqueria is located in the heart of Mexicantown and specializes in comfort street food with diverse types of meats and soups.

If you’re looking for a delicious breakfast or lunch, Las Palmas Neveria y Cafeteria is the perfect spot. You can expect to see items like tortas, quesadillas and natural juices on the menu, as well as molletes (a traditional Mexican dish).
