TechTown Detroit will host a roundtable for a select group of entrepreneurs and business leaders with the United States Patent and Trademark Office’s intellectual property attachés. The attachés will discuss the protection and enforcement of IP rights abroad for patents, trademarks and copyrights in foreign countries.

IP Attachés are U.S. diplomats assigned to a U.S. embassy or consulate abroad to advocate U.S. positions on intellectual property matters for the benefit of U.S. stakeholders. IP Attachés work closely with teams of specialized patent, trademark, copyright, and enforcement attorneys to promote high-quality intellectual property protection and enforcement internationally.

Topics of discussion will include:

  • The international IP concerns of TechTown Detroit members
  • International priorities, concerns and legal considerations for intellectual property (including patents, trademarks and copyright)
  • Issues that may be encountered by businesses seeking to conduct business overseas
  • Tips and suggestions to consider when planning to export products to foreign countries
  • USPTO efforts to improve international IP matters that are important to business owners
