Biography
Kimberly spent a decade with Marriott Hotels until she was bit by the “nonprofit bug” that launched a twenty-plus year career serving mission-driven organizations in a variety of alumni relations, events management, and fundraising roles. With this service mindset, Kimberly started a social enterprise to support women rebuilding their lives through the making of furniture and home décor using reclaimed wood and materials. She is an alumna and former board member of the Build Institute and currently serves her alma mater, Central College in Pella, Iowa, as a member of its National Advisory Committee. (Ask her about her worn pair of wooden shoes from her college days in a Dutch town.) Kimberly has a love for old buildings as and serves as a board member for the homeowner’s association of the historic Detroit loft which is home.
Outside of the office, Kimberly’s true passion is travel (and she is still dreaming of her adventures in Peru, Kenya. and Antarctica over the past few years). When she’s not traveling the world or packing for her next departure, you’ll find Kimberly exploring Detroit’s Woodbridge, Midtown, and New Center neighborhoods with her champion Belgian Sheepdog, Brady, while Meg, the cat, lounges at home.
