Candid Conversations and Code
March 15 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Lines of code. Live by the code. Crack the code. Candid Conversations & Code aims to tackle it all: technology, diversity, inclusion and entrepreneurship. Up first is one of most famous entrepreneurial ventures in Detroit’s history—Motown! We’ll talk with Robin Terry, Chairwoman and CEO of the Motown Museum. Hear about the history of the company, museum and how Motown became the soundtrack of a generation. What was it like to be an entrepreneur of color during some of Detroit’s most turbulent times? What kinds of technological advances did they make in the recording industry? Come learn more! Plenty of time for Q&A and networking. Light refreshments.
Robin Terry is the Chairwoman and CEO for Motown Museum, a cultural gem founded in 1985 by her grandmother, the late Esther Gordy Edwards, senior executive at Motown Records and sister of Motown founder, Berry Gordy Jr. Robin’s mission is to build from her grandmother’s vision to tell the authentic story of Motown by expanding its creative magnet to help transform the community. She believes Motown magnifies what is best about Detroiters and tells a story of resilience, persistence, as well as the power of creative synergy.
